Camelot Students
Camelot offers a sophisticated program requiring a great deal of courage and commitment
from each of our students. Due to the structure of our curriculum, our students
must be mentally alert and capable of assuming responsibility. We expect our students
to assist with the design of their individual programs and encourage them to develop independent
living skills along with their increasing equestrian skills.
Qualities of a Camelot Rider
We expect all of our students (and parents, where appropriate) to exhibit the following
qualities to the best of their abilities.
Attitude and Behavior
- Demonstrate a personal desire for participation in our program
- Maintain a respectful attitude toward instructors, volunteers, fellow students,
and animals at all times
- Comply with all barn rules and policies
- Exercise good judgment to ensure the general safety of all persons and animals
present
Communication and Listening
- Communicate—without prompting—with staff, volunteers, and fellow students
- Listen to and follow through on all instructions from staff and volunteers
Relations With Others
- Cooperate with staff, volunteers, and fellow students
- Display an attitude of teamwork and sportsmanship
- Show consideration for others—both humans and animals—at all times
Attendance
- Arrive on time
- Attend all scheduled activities or provide 24-hour advance notice of absence or
tardiness
- Arrange for transportation to program activities
Appearance
- Demonstrate good personal grooming
- Wear appropriate attire for program activities
Personal Goals
- Give input toward the design of a personalized program based on an accurate appraisal
of abilities and needs
- Organize materials and personal energy to accomplish activities and goals in the
time available
- Assume responsibility for accomplishing goals
- Show a willingness to stretch physically and mentally to meet those goals
Program Support
Students and their families will help support the program by attending and lending
assistance to Camelot’s special events and work projects.
Community Support
At Camelot, we have never charged money for our services. In keeping with our Round Table
Philosophy of Life, students are expected to serve the community in some way in
exchange for the services they receive.
If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live
the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common
