Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.)

PATH Intl. (formerly NARHA) is a national non-profit organization promoting the benefit of horses for individuals with physical, emotional, and learning disabilities. www.pathintl.org

United States Driving for the Disabled, Inc. (USDFD)

This non-profit organization promotes training, horses, and equipment for physically challenged equestrians. www.usdfd.org

United States Para-Equestrian Association (USPEA)

The USPEA develops, promotes, supports, and sustains United States para-equestrian athletes for regional, national, and international competition. www.uspea.org

United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Para-Equestrian

Para-Equestrian is the eighth discipline within the USEF. Para-Dressage is considered a High Performance Sport, subject to the USEF selection criteria standards for teams. www.usef.org

Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) Para-Dressage

The FEI is the international governing body for equestrian sports, including para-equestrian dressage, the only equestrian discipline in the Paralympic Games. Para-dressage has been part of the Paralympic Games since the 1996 event in Atlanta, Georgia. As of the 2010 World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Lexington, Kentucky, it is also part of the WEG. www.fei.org

Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA)

CHA is an international non-profit organization founded in 1967 to promote excellence in safety and education for individuals and group riding programs. CHA certifies over 800 new instructors annually through its certification clinics in the US, Canada, and England. www.cha-ahse.org

Dragon Slayers—Aptos, California

Dragon Slayers is a an innovative animal therapy program for physically challenged children and adults. Teaching self-confidence, awareness, and conservation through interaction with rare and unusual animals, Dragon Slayers has served the physically challenged community for over 35 years. Camelot’s founder, Eileen Szychowski, was a student of Josef Rivers, founder of Dragon Slayers. josefriversdragonslayers.org

Horses Help—Phoenix, Arizona

Horses Help utilizes teams comprised of specially trained horses, PATH Intl.-certified instructors, physical and occupational therapists, and community volunteers to work with the special abilities population. www.horseshelp.org

Borrowed Freedom, Inc.—Endicott, New York

Borrowed Freedom Equine Assisted Therapy (BFEAT) serves the Southern Tier and Central NY and Northern Tier of PA. They offer a skills-based, recreational program for exceptional children and young adults. Like Camelot and Dragon Slayers, they do not charge for thier services. www.borrowedfreedom.org
